Maintenance Technician
This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, a plethora of handy skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining properties.
Together, we're an amazing team.
The properties look after the guests. You look after the properties.
As Maintenance Technician for the Beyondbnb Fernie Division, you're the person who keeps our portfolio of short-term rental properties running properly — day in, day out. When something needs fixing, you're the one who gets it done. When a property needs attention before a guest arrives, you make sure it's ready. You take care of the details that most people never notice — because when you do your job well, everything just works.
You'll be out across our Fernie properties every day, working independently with the support of a small and tight-knit team. If you're the kind of person who takes genuine satisfaction in doing a job well and leaving a space better than you found it, this role was built for you.
What this role looks like day to day
You'll be responsible for the general upkeep, maintenance, and minor repairs across our Fernie property portfolio. That includes responding to maintenance requests, carrying out routine checks, handling general repairs — plumbing basics, painting, carpentry, appliance troubleshooting — and coordinating with the wider operations team when something bigger needs attention. You'll use our systems to log jobs and communicate with the team throughout the day.
The role is varied, hands-on, and genuinely satisfying if you enjoy working across different spaces and solving problems as they come. The schedule includes weekends and statutory holidays — this is a year-round position and the properties don't stop needing attention because it's a long weekend.
What you bring
- Solid handyperson skills — comfortable with general repairs, painting, basic plumbing, and minor carpentry. No trades certificates required
- Valid BC driver's licence — you'll be moving between properties throughout your shift
- A problem-solver mindset — you see a fix, not a hassle
- Reliable and self-directed — able to manage your workload independently and communicate clearly with the team
- Comfortable working in guest spaces — you take care with how properties look and how they're left
- Availability across weekends and statutory holidays — this is a year-round role with a schedule that reflects that
What we offer
- Competitive hourly wage
- Extended health benefits
- Flexible scheduling built around life in Fernie
- A small, close-knit team where your work genuinely matters
- Stable, year-round employment — we're after long-term people, not a quick fix
